Radio Rasclat (originally Radio Rundgang) began in 2019 in Kassel as a small live-streaming experiment for the Kunsthochschule Kassel’s Rundgang. From the very start, it was about creating space to listen, connecting people, places, and art through sound. I conceived the project, shaping its concept, visual identity, and overall look and feel, guiding its direction from the first broadcast. The station was designed to be flexible, responsive, and open, a platform where sound, culture, and community could meet.
Over time, as the project expanded, I was joined by a small team of 5–6 collaborators, who helped with program planning, hosting, technical setup, and live production. Together, we managed broadcasts, schedules, and infrastructure, but the core vision — the identity, design, and programming philosophy — always remained anchored in my direction. Technology has been a quiet but essential partner: open-source systems like LibreTime, early web apps, and the station’s first native iOS app provided the backbone for accessible, independent, and community-oriented broadcasting.
During a key phase, Radio Rasclat became the voice for Kassel’s cultural institutions, streaming exhibitions, festivals, workshops, and events across the city, while maintaining space for independent, experimental, and community-driven content. The station became a temporary cultural hub, connecting formal institutions with local artists, initiatives, and audiences.
A major milestone came with participation in lumbung Radio during documenta fifteen. As part of this translocal, decentralized network, Radio Rasclat connected Kassel’s sounds to a global constellation of audio nodes. Lumbung Radio’s open, multilingual, collaborative structure reflected the station’s own ethos: sharing, experimenting, connecting, and maintaining autonomy for creators.
🤩
Beyond live shows, the project expanded into podcasts and workshops, including collaborations with the Anne Frank Educational Center and educational programs with Wissen am Stern e.V., empowering children and youth to explore media literacy, storytelling, and sound production. Local collaborations, including Autohaus and r:ein, platform of Architektur, Stadt- und Landschaftsplanung, Uni Kassel, embedded the project further into the city’s cultural ecosystem.
Thank you.

lumbung Radio is an online community radio project that is part of documenta fifteen. It started already in April 2022 and is broadcasting 24/7 during the 100 days of documenta fifteen, and hopefully also afterwards, from and to the whole planet. It’s the result of the radio working group (consisting of the initial members Grégoire Rousseau, Malene Saalmann, Gözde Filinta, Ayşe Güleç, and Reza Afisina) that started meeting in August 2021 between Kassel, Jakarta, and Helsinki, with the aim of envisioning a collective audio practice based on principles of commoning as a shared space between inter-local nodes of the documenta fifteen ecosystem.
lumbung Radio is an open online broadcast that comprises of an inter-local network of distinct radios and audio practices. It operates in no specific time zones, and streams multiple languages, music, and art. Each participating radio station depends on its own means of production, way of thinking, learning, and sharing. lumbung Radio operates as a decentralized network of nodes that uses internet without its hegemonic agency. The intention is producing an audiophonic common space built on the multiplication of the existing practices of its contributors.
The radio itself runs on open-source infrastructure and is self-hosted on a dedicated server. The program comprises of relays and original contributions by its nodes, assembled via timesharing.
lumbung Radio is coordinated by Station of Commons – an ongoing collaborative, Helsinki and Geneva based initiative on digital commoning practices by Grégoire Rousseau, Minerva Juolahti, Alain Ryckelynck, Constantinos Miltiadis, and Juan Gomez. Initiated in February 2020, Station of Commons investigates the possibilities of reappropriating technology within public space. The point of departure of the research questions both centralized knowledge and data centers operated by major organizations and its underlying social implications. Station of Commons operates as an easily integrable online platform for sharing local resources.
lumbung Radio streaming is available via lumbungradio.stationofcommons.org/, and will be available soon also via the documenta fifteen website, ruruHaus website, and lumbung.space.

Radio Rasclat has always been hands-on, experimental, and team-driven. While collaborators supported hosting, technical management, and programming logistics, the core of the station — its identity, design, concept, and programming choices — remained guided by the original vision. Every broadcast, workshop, and collaboration reflects a mix of creative direction, technical execution, and community engagement.
At its core, Radio Rasclat is a living, distributed medium: a platform for collective listening, experimentation, and making. It is structured yet fluid, local yet connected to global networks, constantly evolving with every show, workshop, and new voice that joins the airwaves. It remains adaptive, open, and alive, a reflection of both its founder’s vision and the collaborative energy it inspires.
